Pitt athletic director Heather Lyke gets 6-year contract extension
Just one year into the job, Pitt athletic director Heather Lyke was rewarded with a six-year contract extension Friday.
The deal runs through 2024.
Lyke made several big moves in her first year at Pitt, extending football coach Pat Narduzzi with a seven-year deal and firing men's and women's basketball coaches Kevin Stallings and Suzie McConnell-Serio.
She hired Duke assistant Jeff Capel to replace Stallings, and brought in Lance White from Florida State to fill the women's basketball vacancy.
Also hired at Pitt over the past year were women's soccer coach Randy Waldrum, wrestling coach Keith Gavin, gymnastics coach Samantha Snider and diving coach Katie Hazelton.
"Heather is leading an ambitious charge to transform Pitt athletics, and her success here is just beginning," Chancellor Patrick Gallagher said in a written statement.
