WEBVTT REPORTER: THE LAST TIME WE WERE AT THE SITE OF THE SHELL CRACKER PLANTS IT DID NOT LOOK LIKE THIS, A LOT OF BIG OBJECTS BUILDING A BIG OPERATION. FOR EXAMPLE, THAT TOWER OFF IN THE DISTANCE, WELL IT'S THE HEIGHT OF A FOOTBALL FIELD, AND SPEAKING OF FIELDS 900-ACRE PROPERTY LOOKED LIKE A BIG ONE THE LAST TIME WE WERE THERE. SKY 4 WITH ACTION CAM CAPTURED THE EMPTINESS WHEN WE WERE THERE IN JANUARY OF 2017. NOW WAYNE IS RUNNING THE SHOW HERE AND SAYS IT'S RUNNING SMOOTHLY. >> WE ARE EMPLOYING CLOSE TO 3,000 PEOPLE. REPORTER: CONSTRUCTION WILL EMPLOY 6,000 PEOPLE, HALF FROM THE AREA. THE PLANTS WILL ESSENTIALLY CREATE PLASTIC PELLETS THAT CAN BE USED IN A VARIETY OF WAYS. A QUICK TOUR FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THE GAS GETS BROKEN DOWN OR CRACKED IN THE PERSON PART OF THE PROPERTY. IT'S COOLED AND STORED IN THE MIDDLE AND THEN I FINISHES REFINING INTO THOSE PELLETS IN THE EAST. THEY WILL GO INTO THE SILOS WHERE THEY WILL BE TRUCKED AND TRAINED OUT TO THE WORLD. AS FOR CONSTRUCTION. >> WE HAVE 11. >> 1 PIECES OF EQUIPMENT OUT HERE RIGHT NOW. THERE IS A LOT OF EQUIPMENT ON THE SITE. REPORTER: THIS CRANE IS THE SECOND TALLEST IN THE WORLD, AS TALL AS THE U.S. STEEL TOWER DOWNTOWN. >> THIS HAS BEEN A REALLY EXCITING THING TO BRING TO BEAVER COUNTY. REPORTER: JOE IS A BEAVER COUNTY NATIVE WHO WORKS FOR SHELL AND SAYS THEY HAVE DONE A LOT TO INCORPORATE AND INCH GREAT K AND BECOME PART OF COMMUNITY. Construction is moving along on the Shell cracker plant in Beaver County.Tap the video player above to see the progress at the work site."Everything’s running good," project manager Wayne Poindexter told Pittsburgh's Action News 4 on Monday.In just two years, a nearly 400-acre field has been transformed into an active construction zone.It's a big operation: Nearly 3,000 construction jobs are already on site, many from area contractors. They're expecting another 3,000 construction jobs to be brought in. Eventually, there will be 600 full-time jobs at the site.There's also a lot of equipment needed for construction."We’ve got 111 pieces of equipment right now, so there’s a lot of equipment on the site; between cranes and forklifts and backhoes and excavators, it’s a lot of equipment out here," Poindexter said.Speaking of equipment: there's a million feet of pipe and the site has the second tallest crane in the world.The cranes are visible from Interstate 376 as vehicles pass over the Beaver River.Construction is tentatively set to finish sometime after 2020.
