There was trouble at PNC Park on Wednesday, and it was not about another Pirates loss on the field. There was a controversy at the concession stand.
Wednesday night was Buc Night at PNC Park, an homage to both the nickname of the Pirates and the fact that hot dogs were $1 last night. The problem? They ran out of buns.
One fan tweeted, "Available at @Pirates games: hot dogs without the bun bc they’re too cheap to buy enough buns."
The Pirates vending contractor, Aramark, issued a statement on the issue saying: "We know fans look forward to Dollar Dog Night as much as we do. Last night, our team was prepared, but unfortunately we experienced an uncharacteristic lag in restocking some stands during the game. We apologize to those fans who experienced a delay and will be adjusting our operations for future Dollar Dog Nights."
