The Steelers star took a tour of the campus and dropped in on some of the classes. Some of the students taught him a few words in sign language.
"This is amazing. They're treating 200 people on campus. They have three campuses - like, it's awesome. It's something that's unbelievable," he said. "And I didn't think - this whole thing is like, from the outside, OK, it's a cool campus. Then you walk inside, you walk through these halls, it's like way bigger than what it is. It's really cool."
The school serves deaf and hard-of-hearing children from birth through high school.
Smith-Schuster was supposed to tour the school last year after he met a group of students. Due to COVID-19, the tour was canceled.
The school's CEO, Dr. Steve Farmer, said it was a fantastic opportunity for his students to meet one of the most electrifying players on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"We have a lot of students who are big Steelers fans, as you can imagine," Farmer said. "I think it'll be just a great opportunity for them to meet a player that they see on TV often, so I think it'll be very impactful."
