The Pittsburgh Steelers said safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday. He joins quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who went on the list Saturday.
Fitzpatrick, who played in Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a report by ESPN's Kimberley Martin.
The report did not indicate whether Fitzpatrick has symptoms. Fitzpatrick's vaccination status is also not known.
Under NFL policy, a vaccinated player who tests positive and is symptomatic must be symptom-free for 48 hours and have two negative tests 24 hours apart before returning to his team.
With Roethlisberger currently out, the Steelers have signed quarterback James Morgan to the practice squad. Morgan was a 2020 fourth-round draft pick by the New York Jets out of Florida International. He has yet to play in a regular-season NFL game.
It's unclear whether Fitzpatrick or Roethlisberger could be available for this weekend's game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. Sunday.
Nose tackle Isaiah Mack was released to make room for Morgan on the practice squad.
