ARCHIVE: Meat Loaf in Pittsburgh for 1994 All-Star Game
Meat Loaf, the heavyweight rock superstar loved by millions, has died at age 74.
Pittsburgh fans may remember Meat Loaf appearing at Three Rivers Stadium in 1994, when the city hosted the annual Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
Pittsburgh's Action News 4 dug into the archives and found video of Meat Loaf in a celebrity home run-hitting contest at the old ballpark, along with the likes of Michael Keaton, Danny Glover, Tony Danza, Lynn Swann, Dan Marino and Jack Lambert. You can watch that report in the video below.
Meat Loaf also sang the national anthem before the All-Star Game.
He was riding a wave of popularity at the time, having won a Grammy earlier that year for the number one hit "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)."
The singer born Marvin Lee Aday died Thursday, according to a family statement provided by his longtime agent Michael Greene. No cause or other details were given.
"Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight," the statement said. "We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man... From his heart to your souls… don’t ever stop rocking!"
