One Pittsburgh artist created a video depicting what Ukrainians are going through as their country is at war, and how she believes it relates to the Good Friday Holy Day. Watch the report from Pittsburgh's South Side: Click the video player above."It was a perfect time, Holy Week, Good Friday in particular, which is when we reflect on Jesus' passion and his suffering and death on the cross," said Kendra McLaughlin, a local artist. "That's what the Stations of The Cross is all about, so I thought it was a perfect fit."Kendra McLaughlin said she read an article out of America magazine by Jim McDermott and Tatyana Borodina, which shared real-time stories from Ukrainians about life in war. "I read it and I was moved to tears immediately, it was so right now and it was about people's lives and their suffering, then uniting their suffering to the sufferings of Christ," McLaughlin said.She said after she read the article, she reached out asking permission to recreate the piece as a video. "What I tried to do with the video is make it very present so you're with them in those moments while they were struggling," McLaughlin told Pittsburgh's Action News 4. "While they were questioning, while they were doubting, just like Jesus may have felt."McLaughlin said she hopes the video attracts more prayers to the people in Ukraine, and shows others what their daily lives are like in war.Click here to view the full video. "When we are focused in prayer, prayer changes things and so I believe if more people were praying for Ukraine there would be miracles," she said.
