Visitation held for 17-year-old killed in Airbnb shooting

Visitation services were held on Thursday evening for Jaiden Brown, who was one of two teens shot and killed during Sunday's Airbnb shooting.

Family and friends gathered to mourn the loss of one of two teens killed in Sunday's Airbnb shooting, Thursday evening. Jaiden Brown, 17, was shot and killed during a party in Pittsburgh's North Side. As many as 200 people were at the Airbnb rental property at Madison Avenue and Suismon Street when shots were fired, police said."First of all, super handsome, I mean, did you see his smile? The smile just takes over you," said Cathy Welsh, who has known Brown's mother for years. "Him and his mom, their bond, because he was an only child. I've known her probably before Jaiden was even born, so he was like her prize procession, it was him and her."Welsh was one of several who attended Brown's visitation services on Thursday at Living Water Ministry in Braddock."He worked very hard to stay focused on school," Welsh said about Brown. "I'm super proud of him."Welsh helps lead the group called Helping Out Our People (HOOP), which is a coalition of Woodland Hills School District families who have lost someone to gun violence, and now support one another."We're strong and we're a part of HOOP and we're uplifting but it's devastating to have (Jaiden's mother) to join us on this journey," Welsh said. "This journey is the most scariest unbelievable journey, I don't even want you anybody standing here (to) imagine losing a child it's that scary. You know how it brings you to instant tears, that's how you are everyday for the rest of your life."Pittsburgh police are calling the case 'high-priority,' and stood alongside other local leaders to hear from residents in the community the shooting happened, Thursday night. Still no word on any arrests as a result of the party and shooting. Funeral services will be held for Brown on Friday. The family of Mathew Steffy-Ross will hold his visitation services on Saturday.
