The Arch Bishop Gannon Award for me means a better life. No tuition and I get to pursue a career in nursing. Nursing really makes my heart full. I spent the first 12 years of my life in Corry, Pennsylvania. Honestly, I had a pretty hard upbringing. I didn't know how I was going to pay for college. My parents didn't have the money to pay for it. My parents really inspired me. They just told me to put applications out there, wherever, you know. Just worry about the money second because education is really important. Gannon has really helped me. I got my financial aid letter and I saw a big amount of money and I showed my Mom and I was like, "Mom, look", and she started crying  and she's like, "I told  you, you know, I told you". It meant everything. It was like, euphoria, you know. It was a big weight off my shoulders. Just speechless. When I got the acceptance letter, I was like really happy, you know, and I was excited, and when I saw that I was getting a scholarship, that made me even more glad. If I didn't have a scholarship, I doubt that I would have been able to attend college. Getting that Arch Bishop Gannon scholarship was really helpful and it really just made everything easier. The scholarship really made an impact on my career. It really helped me to take the courses that I needed and to improve my skills as an educator before I enter the workforce. Donors that are investing in Gannon are really making a positive impact on the lives of many young people because, they are supporting us and it's helping us to pursue our careers and what we're passionate for, and because of that, we're able to make a difference. If I could give advice to anybody that went through what I went through, you could shoot higher than what you think you can. Set your expectations high. You could do big things.
