Saturday night marked the first time that many Steelers fans entered the Acrisure Stadium after the recent name change from Heinz Field.
It was a new stadium name, new season and new security measures that Steelers fans were met with at Acrisure Stadium Saturday night as the Steelers defeated the Seahawks.
Some fans told Pittsburgh's Action News 4 they're still unsure about the new stadium name.
"(I) don't like the name change," said Mary Noel. "We'll still call it Heinz Field."
"It's weird, it'll always be Heinz Field to me personally, but I mean Acrisure Stadium, it's definitely weird especially when I saw the sign when I came in today. It definitely felt weird," said Chase Johnson, who is from Greene County.
"As long as the Steelers win, they can name it whatever they want to name it," said Lenny Huhn, who hasn't missed a Steelers game in 12 years.
After an intense win Saturday night, many fans were chanting "Kenny" as they walked out of Acrisure Stadium. Kenny Pickett threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Vaughns with 3 seconds to play and the Steelers beat the Seahawks 32-25.
Many fans were also vocal about the quarterback position now that two-time Super Bowl winner Ben Roethlisberger has retired from the NFL.
"I think Mason (Rudolph) earned his right to try, get out there and show us what he can do," said Greensburg native, Meghan Santiago.
"It's Steelers football you know, new year, new quarterback, could be three different quarterbacks, you don't know," Johnson said.
Aside from a new quarterback, season and stadium name, the Pittsburgh Steelers also made some improvements when it comes to getting fans inside the stadium quicker.
"Last year at certain gates, we were able to get fans through in a more expedited process for entry and it helped alleviate a lot of lines that were occurring. Well, it worked so well in 2021 that in 2022 we expanded it to even more gates," said Burt Lauten, senior director of communications.
Lauten said they've continued their clear bag policy for the 2022 year and encouraged fans to download their tickets before getting to the field to ensure an even quicker entry.
"I have a lot of faith every year, we are Steelers nation," Fan Nikki Peden told Pittsburgh's Action News 4.
