Ben Roethlisberger visits Pittsburgh Steelers practice

As the competition for the Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback job continues, former QB Ben Roethlisberger paid a visit to the team's South Side practice facility Wednesday."I wanted to grab him after practice. I didn't see him after. I got to send him a text. But yeah, it was great seeing him come back around. I hope he comes back again and I can meet with him a little bit," rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett said.Mitch Trubisky has started at quarterback in both of Pittsburgh's preseason games. Coach Mike Tomlin has not named a starter for the team's final preseason game Sunday."I'm just focused on what we can improve as a unit right now, and that's staying on the field on third down and then finishing with some points, especially the last game," Trubisky said. "I'd like to stay on the field a little longer and finish in the end zone."Pickett saw action in the second quarter against Jacksonville last week, with Mason Rudolph playing the entire second half. Both quarterbacks led touchdown drives in the win over the Jaguars."It's impressive, his growth throughout OTAs and especially camp," tight end Pat Freiermuth said of Pickett. "He would say himself that it started off a little rocky, but he's balling, and he's a gamer and we feel very confident in him.""His ball has become more and more catchable, and he's put a nice touch on it. You can see the work he's been putting in," wide receiver Chase Claypool said.
