Paramore coming to Pittsburgh on 2023 tour

Paramore coming to Pittsburgh on 2023 tour
Olivia Rodrigo has just retroactively credited Hayley Williams and Josh Farro as writers on her hit “good 4 u”, So let’s get into what this means. Following the release of Olivia Rodrigo's third single off her debut album SOUR, fans began pointing out how similar 'good 4 u’ sounded to Paramore’s 2007 megahit 'Misery Business’.  Mashups of both songs began popping up across social media and well, they did blend pretty smoothly with one another: And it was Paramore's label, Warner Chappell Music, who first broke the news on Tuesday sharing an Instagram story of Olivia reaching number one on the Top 40 music chart with 'good 4 u’ and added the caption, "A huge shoutout to our writers Hayley Williams & Joshua Farro.”  Hayley went ahead and reshared the story on her Instagram adding, "Our publisher is wilding right now." Now as to how both parties reached this agreement, well, there’s conflicting reports... According to a Variety insider, the credit is actually an interpolation and Olivia was allegedly in touch with Paramore before the release of 'good 4 u’.  But then the question remains, why weren’t Hayley and Josh’s names listed in the song credits originally? Even at the time of recording this video, their names are still not showing up on Spotify under credits for ‘good 4 u’. They are, however, being displayed in the ASCAP Repertory database. And on the other hand, celeb gossip Instagram page DeuxMoi is reporting that Paramore’s team allegedly took legal action and that both parties reached a settlement out of court that now allows Hayley and Josh to receive 50% of the publishing.     Which in turn, it also means that if SOUR lands an “Album Of The Year” nomination at next year’s Grammys, Hayley and Josh Farro will also earn a nomination since they’re now listed as co-writers of this song. This makes ‘good 4 u’ the third song on SOUR to feature sounds from a different recorded song, as Olivia was very upfront about Taylor Swift’s influence on '1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back.’  Olivia credited Taylor and famed composer Jack Antonoff from the very beginning after she admittedly interpolated their song 'New Year's Day’. Then just last month Olivia retroactively gave Taylor, Jack and St. Vincent songwriting credit on ‘Deja Vu’ for its parallels with their song 'Cruel Summer.’ And finally Olivia was also being accused of co-opting a guitar riff from Elvis Costello’s 1978 hit ‘Pump It Up’ on her latest single ‘brutal’, but the veteran rocker made it clear that he’s not looking for any type of credit tweeting, “This is fine by me. It’s how rock & roll works. You take the broken pieces of another thrill and make a brand new toy. That’s what I did.” Olivia and her team have yet to address the latest credit adjustment to one of her songs but we’re just happy to hear that both parties were able to reach an agreement.   And now go ahead and click right over here to see why fans are saying Olivia ripped off a British artist in her new music video. Then hop to the comments and let me know all your thoughts on Olivia finally crediting Hayley and Josh. As always, I’m your host Renee Ariel, you can find me on Instagram @reneeariel. bye guys!
