RIGHT NOW WE WANT TO CHECK INTO THE 12 CONGRESSIONAL RACE. SUMMER LEE IS AT THE PODIUM. LET’S LISTEN IN. >> US TO SEND A MESSAGE AND TRY TO DEMORALIZE US. OUR MOVEMENT DID NOT SIT DOWN. WE STOOD UP AND FOUGHT BACK AND SENT A MESSAGE. WE SENT THIS MESSAGE THAT WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE INTIMIDATED, HAT WE ARE NOT GOING TO WHAT WE CAN AND CANNOT DO. WE ARE NOT GOING TO LET DARK MONEY AND OUTSIDE FOLKS COME INTO WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND TELL US WHAT TYPE OF REPRESENTATION THAT WE DESERVE BECAUSE OUR COMMUNITY HAS BEEN WAITING A FAR TOO LONG FOR THIS. THIS IS VICTORY NOT JUST FOR ME. THIS IS VICTORY FOR EACH AND EVERYONE ONE OF US FROM OUR CAMPAIGN TEAM, JUST AS DEMOCRATS WHO WERE THERE FROM THE VERY BEGINNING LOOKING QUEUE IN THE FRONT. TWO WORKING FAMILIES WHO WERE RIGHT THERE WITH THEM TO SUNRISE AND ONE HOOD AND ALL OF OUR LABOR UNIONS WHO I COULD NOT NOW NAME THEM BECAUSE IT IS A NEW DAY IN PITTSBURGH BUT THEY ARE HERE TO MOVE PITTSBURGH AND ALL OF ITS FORMS WHETHER IT BE APA OR ONES PITTSBURGH OR PITTSBURGH UNITED. WE HAVE SO MANY FRIENDS NATIONAL AND LOCAL. THIS WAS A MOVEMENT ABOUT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN WE PRIORITIZE THE MOST MARGINALIZED AND REALLY FIGHT FOR WHAT A REAL WORKING CLASS MOVEMENT CAN LOOK LIKE IN THIS COUNTRY. IT’S LOOK LIKE WHEN WE FIGHT BACK AGAINST RACIALIZED FEAR MONGERING, WHEN WE SEE ALL THOSE ADS AND INSTEAD OF SAYING WE ARE GOING TO INTO OUR WORST THINK THINGS, IT IS THAT WE ARE GOING TO STAND UP FOR OUR NEIGHBORS. THAT IS SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF HERE IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA. IT IS SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF. [APPLAUSE] I HAVE TO THANK MY FAMILY BECAUSE THEY DO NOT LIKE IT WHEN I DON’T. MY FAMILY WHO ARE ALL SITTING RIGHT HERE HAVE BEEN WITH ME FROM DAY ONE. I REMEMBER FIVE YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS THINKING ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT I WANTED TO RUN FOR STATE RET, A TOLD MY MOM WHO I LIVED WITH AT THE TIME -- EVERY TIME THEY WANT TO TALK ABOUT FEDERMAN LIVING WITH HIS PARENTS. [LAUGHTER] I WAS LIKE WE HAVE A LOT IN COMMON. I TOLD MY MOM SOMEONE SAID I SHOULD RUN FOR STATE REP. SHE SAID OH YES THE THAT WAS THE BEGINNING OF MY JOURNEY. MY MOM SAYING THE TO ME. . IF YOU SAW THOSE ADS AND YOU WERE ANNOYED, IMAGINE WHAT IT WAS LIKE IF YOU ARE A GRANDMA WATCHING THOSE OR MY NEPHEWS. GIVE MY FAMILY A SHOUT OUT. [APPLAUSE] I WILL NOT KEEP US ALONG BECAUSE WE HAVE A LOT OF VICTORIES TO CELEBRATE TONIGHT AND I DON’T KNOW ALL THE RESULTS YET BECAUSE I HAVE NOT BEEN PLUGGED IN BUT I FEEL LIKE WHEN THEY SAID THIS IS GOING TO BE A RED WAVE AND WE WERE WORRIED ABOUT WHERE WE WERE GOING TO GO, INSTEAD OF SHRINKING, WE WENT AND FLIPPED SEATS. INSTEAD OF INSURRECTIONISTS GETTING INTO HARRISBURG, WE WENT AND SENT A MOVEMENT TO PROTECT WOMEN AND BIRTHING PEOPLE ALL OVER THE COMMONWEALTH AND PEOPLE FROM OTHER STATES WHO RELY ON US. WE ROSE TO THE OCCASION AND OUR WORK IS NOT DONE. OUR WORK IS NOT DONE. PEOPLE ARE GOING TO LOOK AT THIS MOVEMENT WE CREATED AND THEY ARE NOT GOING TO STOP NOW. LET’S BE VERY REAL, WE HAD TO GO THROUGH UGLY TO GET HERE. THERE IS A REASON WHY THERE HAD NEVER BEEN A BLACK WOMAN SERVING IN THE HISTORY OF PENNSYLVANIA. THEY ARE NOT GOING TO LET UP ON US. THEY WILL NOT RELENT. BUT IN THESE NEXT TWO YEARS STARTING TOMORROW, WE ARE GOING TO BE BUILDING A MORE FOR BILLABLE MOVEMENT THAN THEY CAN EVER DEAL WITH, AND THAT IS GOING TO START WITH NOT JUST LEAVING HERE TODAY AND SAYING WE ARE DONE WITH THIS, BUT RECOGNIZING THAT WE ARE WINNING FOR OUR PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT UP AND DOWN THE BALLOT FOR OUR ELECTION CYCLE. I WILL NOT TALK ABOUT WHO IS ON DOUBTS NEXT, BUT I WILL SAY THIS IS NOT OVER, WE ARE GOING TO TAKE THIS ENERGY IN MOMENTUM. I HOPE YOU ARE NOT TIRED, I HOPE THAT YOU ARE ENERGIZED, INSPIRED, READY TO ROLL BECAUSE WE HAVE SO MUCH MORE WORK TO DO. THINK ABOUT ALL THE THINGS THAT BROUGHT YOU OUT TO VOTE TODAY WHEREVER YOU VOTED WHETHER IT IS REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH OR MIDDLE JUSTICE REFORM OR LABOR UNIONS OR A LIVING WAGE OR HOUSING WHATEVER THAT IS, BRING THAT ENERGY EVERYDAY. KEEP ORGANIZING. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO TAKE A SINGLE DAY OFF. WE CAN TAKE ONE DAY OFF BUT WE CANNOT FOR TWO TAKE TWO DAYS OFF. [LAUGHTER] I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU LONG. WE WILL CELEBRATE THIS LATER. WE WILL WAIT FOR THE AP TO CALL IT. I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR THIS HISTORY MAKING MOMENT, FOR ENTRUSTING ME TO BE THE REPRESENTATIVE OF THIS VAST, DIVERSE DISTRICT IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA. IT’S OVER IT. [APPLAUSE] ED GAINEY IS THE AP ECHO [LAUGHTER] THANK YOU ALL. THAT’S WHAT I HAVE RIGHT NOW. THANK YOU ALL. WAIT, ONE MORE THING BEFORE I GO. I HAD THE BADDEST CAMPAIGN TEAM IN THE LAND, IN THE LAND. [APPLAUSE] I SAY THAT FOR A REASON BECAUSE AGAIN, WHEN WE FINISH OUR PRIMARY AND WENT INTO OUR GENERAL AND WE WERE LIKE, THIS IS A BIG DEMOCRAT DISTRICT AND WE DIDN’T REALLY KNOW WE ARE GOING UP AGAINST A FAKE MIGHT DOYLE, AND WE WERE PARING IT DOWN OUR TEAM AND FIGURING OUT HOW WE ARE GOING TO MAKE IT WITH A MUCH SMALLER TEAM AND HAVING PEOPLE TAKE MUCH BIGGER ROLES. I WANT EVERYBODY -- AND THIS WILL BE VERY EMBARRASSING. MY CAMPAIGN MANAGER, IT IS HER BIRTHDAY. ABIGAIL GARDNER, IT IS HER BIRTHDAY. IT IS A MILESTONE. IT IS HER 40TH BIRTHDAY. KRISTEN: THAT WAS DEMOCRAT SUMMER LEE AND SHE SAYS SHE IS WAITING FOR 8-2 MAKE THAT OFFICIAL CALL. SHE HAS A HUGE LEAD AT 56%. THAT IS ABOUT A 13% LEAD FROM REPUBLICAN MIKE DOYLE. YOU HEARD HER MENTION SUMMER LEE, SHE WOULD BE THE STATES FIRST LACKED CONGRESSMAN. I KNOW MIKE DOYLE WE DO HAVE CAMERAS OVER TO HIS CAMPAIGN AS WELL. MIKE: WE WILL CHECK IN WITH JIM MADALINS
