State Rep. Sara Innamorato (D-Pittsburgh) announced Thursday her intention to run for the open Allegheny County executive seat. Innamorato represents the 21st District in the Pennsylvania House. The district comprises parts of Pittsburgh as well as Reserve, Shaler, Etna and Millvale in Allegheny County. In a tweet, Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey endorsed Innamorato for the position. The current county executive, Democrat Rich Fitzgerald, has been in the office since 2012 and has reached his term limit.Innamorato is seeking the Democratic nomination in an increasingly crowded pool. A total of five candidates have now launched their bids for the seat.In addition to Innamorato, the following candidates, all Democrats, have declared their intention to run:Erin McClelland, former congressional candidateMichael Lamb, Pittsburgh city controllerOlivia Bennett, Allegheny County councilwomanDave Fawcett, former Allegheny County councilmanNo Republican has announced a candidacy yet.
