IN USE BUT STILL PLUGGED IN IS WHAT FIRE OFFICIALS BELIEVED TO BE THE CAUSE OF A FIRE OVER THE WEEKEND. AT A HOME IN THE HIGHLAND MEADOWS IN BEAVER COUNTY. >> ACCORDING TO THE HOMEOWNER THEY USE THE AIR FRYER TWO DAYS AGO. AND THEY DID NOT USE IT SINCE AND LEFT IT PLUGGED IN. AND IT CAUGHT FIRE. >> THIS IS WHAT’S LEFT OF THE AIR FRYER. SHARING THESE PHOTOS WITH ACTION NEWS FOUR. AS A PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT. THE FIRE WAS CONTAINED TO A KITCHEN ROOM IN THE BASEMENT WHERE THE FIRE WAS PLUGGED IN BUT NOT IN USE. NO MAJOR RECALLS AT THIS TIME FIRE CHIEF SAYS THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER REPORTS OF SIMILAR ICIDENTS SAFETY OFFICIALS STRONGLY RECOMMEND ANYONE USING A AIR FRYER UNPLUG IT AND STORED AWAY FROM OTHER HEAT SOURCES SUCH AS STOVES. DOOR TO THE WHICH THE ROOM IT HAPPEN WAS CLOSE. Fire was reported on Friday night in Chippewa Township

Firefighters say an air fryer may have sparked a fire inside a home in Chippewa Township’s Highland Meadows neighborhood.The Chippewa Township Volunteer Fire Department said the fire broke out a little before 8:30 p.m. Friday at a home on Meadow Drive.The homeowner came home to find the house full of smoke and the smoke detectors going off.The first firefighter to respond was able to get inside and put out the fire, which was contained to a kitchen area in the basement.The fire department said the fire apparently started with an air fryer that was plugged in but not in use.The Chippewa Township Volunteer Fire Department wrote in a Facebook post that, “While there are no recalls issued by any manufacturers at this time, there are many reports of fires related to air fryers that were not in use at the time.”They added, “It is strongly recommended that anyone using an air fryer unplug them and store them away from any other heat source such as stoves.”
