TOM: BACK HERE AT HOME, THE EFFORT TO HELP THE FAMILY OF A FALLEN POLICE CHIEF CONTINUES THIS WEEKEND. IN FACT, A T-SHIRT SALE YESTERDAY MORNING IN TARENTUM, SOLD OUT, BEFORE IT EVEN STARTED. THE COMMUNITY WAITED IN LONG LINES, WRAPPED AROUND THE BLOCK, TO BUY T-SHIRTS, IN HONOR OF BRACKENRIDGE POLICE CHIEF JUSTIN MCINTRE. HE WAS KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY, EARLIER THIS MONTH. THE SALES WERE SUPPOSED TO START AT 9:00 YESTERDAY MORNING. BUT, PEOPLE WERE AT THE TARENTUM BOROUGH BUILDING THREE HOURS BEFORE THAT, AND THEY RAN OUT OF SHIRTS BEFORE THE OFFICIAL START TIME. >> THERE HAS JUST BEEN AN OVERPOURING AMOUNT OF SUPPORT. WE ARE TAKING PREORDERS AND WE ARE HOPING TO DO FURTHER SALES IN THE FUTURE. TOM: BECAUSE THE SHIRTS SOLD OUT, A SALE SET FOR TODAY WILL NOT HAPPEN. The Brackenridge American Legion has announced a second date for a fundraiser helping the family of fallen Brackenridge Police Chief Justin McIntire.In a Facebook post Wednesday, next-door Tarentum Borough said that more T-shirts were on the way and would be available for pre-order.The sale will happen Wed., Jan. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 845 First Avenue. Shirts sized small to extra-large will cost $15; larger sizes are priced at $18.A T-shirt sale earlier this month in Tarentum sold out before it even started.The community had waited in long lines wrapped around the block to buy T-shirts in honor of Brackenridge police Chief Justin McIntire, who was killed in the line of duty on Jan. 2.The sales were supposed to start at 9 a.m. Jan. 15, but people were at the Tarentum Borough Building three hours before that, and they ran out of shirts before the official start time. "There's been an overpouring amount of support," said volunteer Shelby Fischback during the first T-shirt sale. "We are taking pre-orders, and we are hoping to do further sales in the future."
