COMING TO A POPULAR PITTSBURGH MUSIC FESTVAL. THE DEUTSCHTOWN MUSIC FESTIVAL BEING REBRANDED AS THE "NORTHSIDE MUSIC FESTIVAL". >> FOR MORE ON WHAT THIS MEANS LET’S BRING IN PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS 4 ANCHOR KELLY SASSO TO EXPLAIN. KELLY? THIS IS USUALLY SO MUCH MUSIC. >> SHANNON AND ANDREW THIS EVENT STARTED 10 YEARS AGO. LAST YEAR THEY HAD OVER 400 ACTS PERFORM AND THIS YEAR ORGANIZERS SAY THEY ARE LOOKING TO TIGHTEN THAT NUMBER UP A BIT. AND WHILE THERE HAVE BEEN NO ARTISTS NAMED YET IT’S STILL ALL ABOUT THE COMMUNITY. >> THE STRENGTH OF THIS AREA OR THE PEOPLE THAT ARE HERE, THE PEOPLE THAT ARE INVESTED IN THE COMMUNITY SPENT A LOT OF TIME WORKING FOR THEIR LOCAL NONPROFITS, COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS TO DO EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO MAKE THIS A BETTER PLACE. THAT WAS A GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT BEGAN THIS FESTIVAL 10 YEARS AGO. THIS IS A NEW GROUP OF PEOPLE WE HAVE WORKING ON A GOING FORWARD. WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO THIS IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD WITHOUT THE STRONG NEIGHBORS AND STRONG SUPPORTERS OF THE LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS. >> THE "NORTHSIDE MUSIC FESTIVAL" WILL BE FREE FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO LISTEN TO LIVE MUSIC THIS SUMMER. ORGANIZERS SAY THEY ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT THE NORTH SIDE AND THEY ARE DOING THIS RE-BRANDING TO KEEP A GREAT EVENT HAPPENEING. WE’RE TOLD IT’S GOING TO BE THE SAME EVENT EVERYONE HAS COME TO KNOW AND LOVE OVER THE YEARS. >> THE CHANGE OF THE NAME TO THE NORTHSIDE MUSIC FESTIVAL IS A FOCUS OF THE NORTH SIDE AS A WHOLE. THIS EVENT ALWAYS HAPPENED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD. Changes are coming to the Deutschtown Music Festival, a summer tradition in Pittsburgh.The annual live music event is being rebranded as the Northside Music Festival."The change of the name really reflects a focus on the North Side as a whole. The Deutschtown name was great in branding the neighborhood, but this event always happened throughout the whole neighborhood. This area has been growing and changing, like with the rest of the city, drastically in the last 10 years, and we want to focus on this area as a whole," organizer Ben Soltesz told Pittsburgh's Action News 4.Scheduled for July 14-16, the festival will be free for anyone who wants to listen to live music.More than 400 acts performed at the 2022 festival. This year, organizers say they are looking to tighten that number up a bit. While no artists have been named yet, it's still all about the community."The strength of this area are the people that are here, the people that are invested in the community, spend a lot of time working for their local nonprofits and community organizations to do everything they can to make this a better place. That was the group of people that began this festival 10 years ago, and this is a new group of people we have working on it going forward, and we wouldn't be able to do this in this neighborhood without the strong neighbors and supporters of the local organizations," Soltesz said.Organizers say they are passionate about the North Side, and they are doing this rebranding to keep a great event happening.
