A health clinic is set to open in East Palestine on Tuesday to assist residents following the train derailment earlier this month. The clinic will be located at First Church of Christ on W. Martin Street and operated by the Ohio Department of Health. According to the health department, it will have two assessment rooms inside the building, as well as a mobile unit parked outside.According to a news release, the site will have registered nurses and mental health specialists. Residents will also be able to speak to a toxicologist."Sometimes it just helps to get checked out. It helps with people's peace of mind," Mallory Aponick, a member of the church, said.Residents are now able to call to set up appointments, either at 234-564-7755 or 234-564-7888.The Department of Health has hours listed for this week and next week. Hours this week (Feb. 21-25) are:(Church assessment rooms)Tuesday: 12-6 p.m.Wednesday: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.Thursday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.Friday and Saturday: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m..Closed Sunday.(Mobile unit)Tuesday: 12-6 p.m.Thursday-Friday: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.Next week, the church assessment rooms will be open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The mobile unit will be open Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, also from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Tuesday several Pittsburgh and Cleveland area Amazon sites will be coming together to donate and distribute more than 1,400 cases of bottled water to residents affected by the train derailment. In Beaver County, the Darlington Township Fire Department will also be providing shipments of water to residents in need. That takes place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
