I’VE BEEN VOLUNTEERING ON THE FISH FRY FOR ABOUT 22 YEARS NOW. DOZENS OF VOLUNTEERS AND LOTS OF FRESH, WARM DONUTS. AT LEAST 3000 A DAY. LAST YEAR, WE WENT. THROUGH 22,747 DONUTS. SAINT ALBERT, THE GREAT FISH FRY IS OPEN FROM LUNCH THROUGH DINNER ON FRIDAYS IN LENT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. HAVE A GREAT DAY. AS IS NORTH BRADDOCK VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT. SIR, HOW ARE YOU? Yes, Pittsburgh Catholics, you can eat corned beef this St. Patrick's Day – even though it's on a Friday.During Lent, Catholics generally don't eat meat on Fridays.However, this year, Saint Patrick's Day falls on a Friday.Bishop David Zubik says Catholics can eat meat that day, due to the impact Saint Patrick has had on the people of Ireland and the Diocese of Pittsburgh."While no member of the faithful is required to use this dispensation, those who do so are encouraged to consider some additional act of Lenten discipline on that day," the diocese said in a statement.Greensburg Bishop Larry Kulick has issued the same dispensation for March 17.
