Watch: WWII veteran celebrates 100th birthday
St. Patrick's Day has always been a little more special for a Louisville WWII veteran and this year was no different.
Harold Senior was born that day 100 years ago. And there was a big celebration in his honor this weekend.
Senior has done a lot of living in those 100 years. Senior was in the radio room of a WWII Navy ship back in the day and later moved on to a cruise ship to teach ballroom dancing with his wife.
He's a retired computer programmer for Standard Oil and Chevron. He was the supervisor over the department for Standard Oil.
On Saturday, friends and family celebrated Senior's special day with cake, birthday cards and well wishes.
In the midst of his special day, he had this advice:
"Live as well as you can now, enjoy life, I would say and when you get to be 100, just be glad to God that you have reached that age," Senior said.
What's his secret to a long life? He said he was never a smoker or heavy drinker, and always made it a point to exercise and socialize with good friends.
