New version of weekly circulars to be delivered starting May 2

After announcing it would move away from direct household delivery of weekly ads, Giant Eagle now says the circular will be mailed to local homes again. Weekly ad returning to mailboxes: Watch the report in the video above.The grocery chain said the new, two-page printed version of its weekly ad will include a QR code that can be scanned to see more on-sale items at the Giant Eagle website."Our new printed circular will showcase huge savings on some of our most popular items and will provide an opportunity for customers to discover hundreds of additional sale items by scanning the QR code that will be featured on the front page of every circular," senior vice president of merchandising Brian Ferrier said in a statement Monday.Delivery of the weekly ad is scheduled to begin May 2, the statement said.In February, Giant Eagle said it was transitioning away from direct mailings of the weekly ad in favor of a digital version. (See that previous report below.)The mailed ad made a comeback ahead of Easter, with Giant Eagle saying that it intended to deliver the weekly ad on certain occasions and before holidays to help promote items and sales.
