MICHAEL LAMB IN THE RACE FOR COUNTY EXECUTIVE. THERE’S ONLY ONE CANDIDATE WITH THE QUALIFICATIONS TRACK, RECORD, HONESTY AND INTEGRITY TO LEAD THIS COUNTY FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS. THIS ISN’T THE FIRST RACE THAT THE LONGTIME COUNTY EXEC HAS WEIGHED IN ON. JUST LAST WEEK, HE ANNOUNCED HIS SUPPORT FOR JOANNA DAVITT IN THE RACE FOR AN AT LARGE COUNTY COUNCIL SEAT. SHE’S RUNNING AGAINST INCUMBENT BETHANY HALLAM. PRIMARY DAY IS COMING UP SOON. LAMB SAYS THE GAME PLAN NOW IS TO CONTINUE TO HEAD OUT AND SPEAK TO VOTERS ON THEIR PORCHES OR AT THEIR DOORSTEP IN THE MAIL ON TELEVISION. The man who's been at the helm of Allegheny County for 12 years has announced the candidate he thinks should succeed him.Fitzgerald backs Lamb in county executive race: Watch the report in the video above.At an announcement outside the City-County Building on Monday, County Executive Rich Fitzgerald gave his support to Michael Lamb."There is only one candidate with the qualifications, track record, honesty and integrity to lead this county for the next four years," Fitzgerald said.Lamb has served as Pittsburgh's controller since 2008. Fitzgerald is term-limited and cannot seek reelection."We are bringing a message of improving this county, investing in us, investing in our communities and investing in our young people," Lamb said.The pair touted Lamb's plan to make community college free for all high school graduates in the county.The primary election is set for May 16. Other Democratic candidates include former county council member Dave Fawcett, state Rep. Sara Innamorato and John Weinstein, the county treasurer.Last week, Fitzgerald endorsed Joanna Doven in her bid for an at-large seat on the county council.
