Pennsylvania House Democrats push for new protections for LGBTQ+ community
Supporters of the Fairness Act say there needs to be protections enshrined in state law to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity or sexual preference. LGBTQ plus community members are having extreme difficulties just doing something that the rest of America is able to do without any problem, secure employment, secure housing, secure an education. And these are uphill battles for the Pennsylvania that I want to live in in the future is one that is fair and free. The one that I want any kids, I may have anybody else's kids to live in is one that is fair and free and not based on the whims of some regulator or department head, but it should have the will of the entire commonwealth behind it. So that's what we're trying to get done. Lawmakers at Wednesday's press conference conceded though that even if this bill gets through the house, it still needs to go to the Senate where it may face *** more uncertain future in Harrisburg, Tom Lehman W G *** L ***.
