Broderick Jones, Steelers' first-round draft pick, arrives in Pittsburgh
The man who the Steelers hope will protect quarterback Kenny Pickett's blind side arrived in Pittsburgh on Friday afternoon.
Broderick Jones, a 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive tackle from the University of Georgia, was introduced at a news conference at the team's South Side headquarters.
Pittsburgh traded up to get Jones in the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday night, taking him at number 14 after sending the 17th pick and a fourth-rounder (120th overall) to New England.
Jones said many of his new teammates have already reached out to connect with him, including Pickett and running back Najee Harris, who he said sent messages that it's time to get to work.
Jones also spoke about why he feels Pittsburgh is a good fit for him.
"Just because of the energy, the vibe that I get from everybody within the organization," he said. "It just feels like I'm at home, it feels like I'm back at Georgia, it feels like I'm back at Lithonia High School, so I feel like I can thrive in a situation like that where I feel comfortable."
