The new name of the combined Excela Heath and Butler Health System was announced Monday.

Independence Health System includes Butler, Clarion, Frick, Latrobe and Westmoreland hospitals, along with outpatient facilities.
The newly named entity said it is western Pennsylvania's third-largest health system.
Ken DeFurio, who was president and CEO of Butler Health System, serves in the same capacity for Independence Health.
The Excela-Butler merger was finalized on Jan. 1.
