Oliver Citywide parent waits outside school for son after fatal shooting
MORE TIME JUST FOR OUR VIEWERS AT HOME? ARMANI. TURNER YEAH, ARMANI. JUST TELL US ABOUT THE SITUATION THAT HAPPENED WITH YOUR SON AS HE WAS COMING TO SCHOOL THIS MORNING. I GOT THE CALL FROM MY SON’S CAR SERVICE. HE HAS PERSONAL CAR SERVICE TO SCHOOL THAT THERE WAS AN INCIDENT AT THE SCHOOL AND MY SON HAD ALREADY GOTTEN OFF THE CAR. AND THEN SHE WAS TRYING TO GET HIM BACK IN THE CAR SO SHE COULD BRING HIM BACK HOME. BUT THEN HE GOT WRAPPED UP IN THE MIDST OF THE HANDFUL OF OTHER STUDENTS THAT WERE ALREADY HERE. AND HE ENDED UP MAKING HIS WAY INSIDE THE SCHOOL. SO I JUST WAS NERVOUS ABOUT WHETHER HE WAS ACTUALLY SAFE BECAUSE SHE DIDN’T REALLY SAY IT, THAT IT HAD ALREADY HAPPENED. SHE JUST SAID IT WAS A CRIME SCENE. BUT SHE TOLD US A LITTLE BIT EARLIER THAT HE IS SAFE. AND YOU GOT A CALL FROM HIM. WHAT GOES THROUGH YOUR MIND AS A PARENT WHEN YOU HEAR YOUR SON ON THE OTHER END OF THE LINE AND HE’S SAFE AFTER ALL THIS AS MY NERVES ARE STILL ALL OVER THE PLACE RIGHT NOW. IT’S JUST A RAGE OF EMOTIONS GOING THROUGH BECAUSE YOU NEVER YOU NEVER WANT TO GET THOSE CALLS THAT EVEN SOMETHING REMOTELY HAPPENING CLOSE TO WHERE YOUR CHILD IS AND YOU’RE NOT THERE. I WAS NERVOUS, WAS SCARED. I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT WHAT TO THINK OR WHAT TO DO, JUST FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT THERE’S ANOTHER KID INVOLVED. AND I KIND OF TRY TO ADVOCATE FOR MY SON AND I AM INVOLVED PARENT. SO I’M JUST I’M NERVOUS EVEN FOR THE OTHER PARENTS, ESPECIALLY FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT THERE WAS NO ROBO CALLS MADE. SO I DON’T KNOW IF A LOT OF PARENTS KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON. SOME PARENTS WERE AT SCHOOL A LOT OF PARENTS I KNOW WHEN I’M AT WORK, IF I SEE THE SCHOOL CALLING SOME JOBS, IF YOU WORK IN THE HOSPITALS, YOU CAN’T ALWAYS ANSWER. SO YOU MAY HAVE TO GET A VOICEMAIL. AND THAT’S THAT’S FRIGHTENING TO GET A VOICEMAIL. AND SO YOU HAVEN’T BEEN TOLD AT THIS POINT WHEN YOU’RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO HAVE YOUR SON COME OUT OF THE SCHOOL. RIGHT? NO, I’M STILL JUST WAITING BECAUSE I’D RATHER HAVE MY SON BACK AND MY CUSTODY OPPOSED TO HIM GETTING ANOTHER CORPORATE CAR SERVICE BACK HOME. ARMANI, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR FOR YOUR SPEAKING TO US LIVE HERE ON PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS FOR THAT’LL DO IT FOR US FROM HERE OUTSIDE OF OLIV
