Homicide detectives investigating death of 5-year-old girl in Springdale
The death of a 5-year-old girl in Springdale is being investigated as a homicide, Allegheny County police said in a statement Tuesday.
According to police, around 8:43 a.m., county dispatch was alerted to an unresponsive 5-year-old child in the 40 block of Duquesne Court. Pittsburgh's Action News 4 encountered crime scene investigators leaving Duquesne Court in Springdale around 5 p.m.
The girl was taken to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified her as Diem McMunn-Gereshenski. The ME will determine a cause and manner of death. Homicide detectives have launched a death investigation.
