YOU CAN SEE THE MARKS ON THE STREET. PLEASE STOP, STOP MAKING ALL THIS RACKET, ALL THIS NOISE. I KNOW YOU’RE HAVING FUN, BUT PLEASE REGARD THE SENIORS, PEOPLE WHO LIVE AT THE K. People who live near the intersection of Fullerton Street and Wylie Avenue in the Hill District are pleading with drivers who they say are doing donuts on a road they said has historic significance.Late-night car stunts causing concern: See the video above.Tenants at the K. Leroy Irvis Towers say drivers are having "Fast and Furious-like burn-out car chasing stunts."Gloria Jones said, "I have called the Pittsburgh police several times, and they seem to come, but they leave and the racing still continues, and we are just asking, please help us because it's not fair to us seniors to be wakened up out of our sleep."They said drivers are causing disruption, danger and damage to Fullerton Street and Wylie Avenue, known as the historic Crossroads of the World. That's the location where the Civic Arena once stood.Brenda Tate is a Hill District community representative and was a Pittsburgh police officer for 40 years. She's leading the effort to put an end to the problem."I'm not here to bash the city, but what we are here for is to make sure our voices are heard," Tate said."Every night at 10 o'clock on Fridays, the seniors have been disturbed out of their sleep because of the behavior of these drivers that come down, bring an audience, and they come down and disrupt the seniors in our community.
