All eyes to the sky Saturday for day one of the 2023 Shop 'n Save Westmoreland Airshow.The airshow is one of the biggest events of the summer. Crowds at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport brought their law chairs for big acts, including a special performance by the United States Air Force Thunderbirds."It's a good time. People love it," said Dwayne Pickels of the Arnold Palmer Airport. "We try to keep everything exciting and safe at the same time. We've been really successful at that, and I think we're going to keep that streak going."With displays of planes big and small, there is something for everyone."My favorite experience was sitting in the F-18 plane, seeing the cockpit and all the gadgets in there," said Evan Donaldson, who came to the show from Pittsburgh."Aviation is just a way of life," said Pavel Shlyahovsky, also of Pittsburgh. "There's a spirit there's the romance of aviation and I'm just happy to be here to enjoy this amazing show."Not only are there different planes, but you'll find food vendors and more."If you look around, you're going to see a 1960s Batmobile and the world's largest Shop 'n Save cart," said Rich Haeflein of Shop 'n Save. "It holds 160 bags of groceries — quite a hefty bill, though. And we have some NASCAR racecars.
