Bob Huggins' daughter comes to his defense after ex-WVU coach's DUI arrest
The daughter of former West Virginia University basketball coach Bob Huggins is offering her reaction following her father's resignation after a DUI arrest in Pittsburgh.
In a Facebook post, Jacque Huggins called WVU leadership "cowards, back-stabbers, and hypocrites."
She claims they gave her father 30 minutes to either resign or be fired. Jacque Huggins says her dad is not an alcoholic and made a mistake.
As for those empty beer cans found in his car, she says her father is known for collecting cans for recycling.
Huggins resigned a day after his arrest.
It came a month after the university suspended him for three games for using a homophobic slur while also denigrating Catholics during a radio interview.
The 69-year-old Huggins leaves as the third-winningest coach all-time in Division I with 935 career victories.
