City of Pittsburgh announces Independence Day celebration and fireworks

With Independence Day less than two weeks away, the city of Pittsburgh is outlining its plans for the annual Fourth of July holiday celebration.Several hours of activities are planned throughout the day on July 4, leading up to the grand finale with fireworks at night.One of the big plans this year includes local and nationally touring performers on three stages — one at Point State Park, one on the North Shore and another on Liberty Avenue. No acts have been announced yet.Festivities at the Point are set to begin at 4 p.m. with a C-17 flyover, interactive military display, hot air balloon and children's activities. The celebration will conclude with fireworks at 9:35 p.m.Trulieve, a medical dispensary, is partnering with the city for the first time and will provide resources to veterans and the Pittsburgh community.More information about the July 4 celebration is posted at pittsburghpa.gov/july4.
