WTAE Editorial: Two big events in Pittsburgh
SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF THE EDITORIAL BOARD IS CHARLES W. WOLFERTZ III PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER OF WTAE. LAST WEEKEND WE WERE REMINDED THAT PITTSBURGHERS CAN HAVE A GOOD TIME IN A LARGE CROWD WITHOUT A LOT OF SERIOUS PROBLEMS. TWO MAJOR EVENTS TOOK PLACE IN THE CITY, THE JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION AT POINT STATE PARK AND THE PAIR OF TAYLOR SWIFT CONCERTS ON THE NORTH SHORE THIMONS. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE CAME TOGETHER IN A SPIRIT OF CELEBRATION. AT LAST CHECK WITH THE PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICIALS. THERE ARE NO REPORTS OF SERIOUS VIOLENCE OR VANDALISM, AND THE TRASH THAT WAS LEFT BEHIND WAS MANAGEABLE, WHICH MEANS MOST PEOPLE PICKED UP AFTER THEMSELVES. IT HASN’T ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY WITH LARGE SCALE EVENTS IN PITTSBURGH, WE BELIEVE IT WAS GREAT TO SEE SO MANY PITTSBURGHERS HAVING A GREAT TIME TOGETHER AND DOING IT SAFELY AND RESPONSIBLY.
