The city of Pittsburgh saw three unrelated shootings early Sunday morning. Three people have been hurt. One man has died.
Downtown
Police said a man was found shot in the hip at William Penn Place and Sixth Avenue. The shooting happened just after 4 a.m.
Bystanders gave the man help until medics arrived. They transported him to the hospital in stable condition.
Officers found a shell casing nearby, on Strawberry Way. No arrests have been made.
North Side
Just before 7 a.m., police said a man was fatally shot in the back after an argument at Federal Street and North Street. The unidentified man was taken to the hospital, where he died.
Police said the victim was riding his bicycle along Federal Street when the fight happened.
“They are searching for a suspect. They are using all available video,” said Cara Cruz, a public safety spokesperson. “There is some in this area, so they’re using that right now for the suspect so hopefully that is resolved quickly.”
Sarah Halter works at Yinz Coffee in the Northside, near where the fatal shooting happened.
“Hearing about another shooting every day. There is always something. I don’t want to say I am desensitized to it, but you hear about it so much, and I am always on my guard here. I think this needs to systematically change, much like the rest of the community,” Halter said.
Homewood
Two more men were shot along the 7200 block of Kelly Street in the city's Homewood South neighborhood.
One of the men is in critical condition. The other's condition has been described as stable.
There have been no suspects or arrests announced.
