Steelers running back Le'veon Bell was named the team’s 2016 Most Valuable Player, it was announced Wednesday. This marks the second time Bell hasbeen named Steelers’ MVP, as he also earned such honors in 2014. Through 12 games, Bell ranks secondin the NFL in rushing yards (1,268) and rushing yards per game (108.7). Hereached 4,000 rushing yards in his 47th career game played thisseason, the second-fewest games in team history to reach 4,000 rushing yards(Jerome Bettis, 44 games). At Miami on Oct. 16, Bell became the fastest playerin NFL history to reach 3,000 rushing yards and 1,500 receiving yards in hiscareer (38 games). This season, Bell has recorded atleast 100 scrimmage yards in seven straight games, and has done so in 11-of-12games played. His 1,884 scrimmage yards on the season are the third-most by aSteeler in a single season in team history. Bell leads the NFL inscrimmage yards per game (157.0). Bell established a new franchiserecord for rushing yards in single game with 236 on a career-high 38 carriesDec. 11 at Buffalo. Bell tied the Steelers’ single-game record with rushingtouchdowns in the contest, as well, and joined Jim Brown as just the secondplayer in league history to record at least 225 rushing yards, 50 receivingyards and three rushing touchdowns in a single game. Bell earned his second Pro Bowl nod(2014) this season, and he was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week (Week 14)for his efforts at Buffalo.
