Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher played football at Carlynton High School while growing up in Crafton, Pennsylvania.

Bill Cowher nurtured his football skills at Carlynton High School while growing up in Crafton, and he keeps the school close at heart -- even as an NFL analyst on national television, and now a Pro Football Hall of Fame head coach.Click the video player above to see how Bill Cowher stays connected to Carlynton and inspires student-athletes at his old school.Cowher's achievement as a winning Super Bowl coach, along with a solid career record of 161-99-1, earned him the surprise selection on live television Saturday night."It was cool to see. Whenever he said the Steelers took a chance on a 34-year-old kid from Crafton, it made everyone in the community feel special," said Nate Milsom, the athletic director at Carlynton High School.Milsom said Cowher has made a few notable visits to the high school during the past 15 years, and even invited the football team to be with him as he was inducted into the Steelers Hall of Honor in 2018.Milsom hopes to take the Carlynton football team to Canton, Ohio, to be with Cowher during the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which is scheduled for Aug. 8.
