"I'm hurting for my guys. But this is football. There has to be a winner, and there's got to be a loser. And at the end of the day, they were the better team today," Westingh0use coach Donta Green said.
It was the 13th championship overall for Southern Columbia (13-3). The Tigers were making their eighth consecutive appearance in the PIAA finals.
Westinghouse (14-1) was denied in its bid to become the first Pittsburgh City League team in 33 years to win the state title.
"What we've been able to do, and all the adversity we've been able to face up to this point and get to this moment, I'm extremely proud," Green said. "I couldn't be more proud of our guys."
